While I was cleaning yesterday, I found my script for Guy Maddin's film Keyhole. I was assistant editor on the film, and I put together the entire first pass of the movie. Some of my work is still intact in the final cut! I'm not sure what all my notes mean now, but I think they are a list of video/audio takes for a particular scene. I've done a lot of freelance video editing, but I've never really advertised that I do that. Well, now I am and now you know. While I've edited a wide variety of material, my primary interest is in narrative work, especially if it is a genre film or if it has the potential to stand out from the crowd in an interesting way. I have over 14 years of Avid experience, and I've worked on a wide range of projects for filmmakers that include Guy Maddin (Keyhole and The Forbidden Room), Kelly Reichardt, the Quay Brothers, Sadie Benning, and of course the one and only Jennifer Reeder (including A Million Miles Away and Blood Below the Skin). I've worked as an editor on projects that have screened at Sundance, Berlin, Rotterdam, TIFF, BAM CinemaFest, Slamdance, Fantasia, Oberhausen, Short of the Week, and many others festival and venues. I've also edited a film that is in the collection of both MoMA and the Tate. Last year I was a consulting editor on Signature Move, a feature film that premiered at SxSW, won the U.S. Grand Jury Prize at Outfest, and will stream on Amazon Prime next year.
