More Than Meets the Eye (2019)

162 35mm slides, 2 synched slide projectors with dust covers, projector stand, dissolve unit, and audio.
38 minute loop, dimensions variable.

More Than Meets the Eye is a slideshow travelogue taking the viewer from the birth of the sun to Earth on the 20th century, where man-made instruments (including the Hubble Space Telescope and Voyager 1) begin their search for new worlds and signs of life in the universe.

The dissolving imagery projected on the screen comes from a collection of nearly 2000 planetarium slides that I acquired while sourcing slide projectors for another installation.

More Than Meets the Eye premiered at the Wexner Center for the Arts.
